Behaviour and Rewards at Willoughby Road
Our pupils are proud to be part of our Willoughby Road community. We have a strong, robust and fair behaviour policy that rewards the right choices pupils make. ‘Good to be Green’ language is used consistently by all members of staff, at all times of the day. We know that for the overwhelming majority of pupils behaviour is a choice, and where ever possible we use positivity and encouragement to support pupils in making ‘green’ choices.
Where pupils make the wrong choices, we use the C system. Again, this is a system pupils know all about. It is consistently applied by everyone, at all times of the day. Please see the Appendix within the policy below for more information. As a result of all of this, the behaviour policy mainly sits in the background because pupils are nurtured to become independent, self-regulating members of the school community. The academy is a calm, purposeful place to learn.
Pupils believe that it is ‘Great to be Green’! Every day, pupils begin the day on ‘Green’ and are given the opportunity to earn a green stamp in their behaviour passport. These green stamps accumulate each week and pupils who consistently demonstrate Green behaviours earn their invitation to the Evergreen Reward at the end of half term.
Pupils who demonstrate ‘Green’ behaviours are also rewarded with Green Points that they can use in our Green Point Shop – The Willoughby Exchange – to exchange points for prizes. Adults in school are always on the lookout for Green Walking, Green listening and Green effort! Green points can also be earned by pupils in school who choose to undertake roles of responsibility in school such as leadership roles or by ‘working’ in The Willoughby Exchange.
